2026: Cultivating Wabi Sabi

Welcome to the year of the horse, and I have a horse ;-) Ralph was lame when I bought him. His conformation is not great - a crooked leg and a club foot. The outlook for a lame horse with poor conformation is not good. However, we have worked diligently on alignment and using his body correctly and he is now mostly sound. We ride Dressage and on the trails and are having a grand old time.

Wabi Sabi is the Japenese art of appreciating the beauty in imperfect things. While Ralph has limitations, his “try” is high because he has so much to overcome. Together we soldier on. I am inspired by my horse, and by the concept of Wabi Sabi, and so it is this year’s theme.
